The Celebration takes place in all three morning services on Sunday, November 22, 2009. Child Dedication at The Crossing is an opportunity to thank God for the precious gift of your child and to publicly declare your intentions to raise your child in a Christian home with Christian principles.

If you are interested in participating, this is what you need to do:

• Submit 3-10 photographs of your child on a data CD/DVD on or before the orientation that you plan to attend.

• Complete and return the registration form to the welcome table prior to attending the Orientation or register for the event on-line at http://revstoops2003.wufoo.com/forms/2009-child-dedication/.

• Decide which of our Sunday morning services you and your family will attend.

If you’re new to The Crossing, your next step is Starting Point. This class will help you discover who we are, what we believe, and how you can get connected. This 70 minute class is offered the first Sunday of each month during the 10:00 AM service (10:00 – 11:20). Located on the second floor of the Main Office building. Next to Jesus, the counter-cultural revolutionary, the greatest rebel found in the New Testament is Paul.  As a young man, he was full of passion and commitment in his life. After encountering Christ, God used those same God-given personality quirks to speak to the Christians scattered around the world, challenging them to grow in Jesus with the gusto. He was a man who went against the tide and was willing to step out, take risks, and live diligently as a “rebel.” He was a rebel WITH a cause. That cause was the gospel and life as a follower of Christ. This rebel still speaks to us today. As he nears the end of his life and sits in prison awaiting his fate, his words penetrate our hearts as he speaks to key issues in our lives that will run counter to the culture, but parallel with God.

In our eight-week focused series, “The Rebel’s Guide” we will be journeying and studying together at The Crossing through the book of Philippians.  It will be challenging as we take a ride on the wild side of a revolutionary faith in Jesus Christ…growing beyond the boundaries that have hemmed us in for far too long while not being afraid of who God uniquely created us to be. Help The Crossing partner with Calvary Downtown Outreach to provide food assistance to needy families here in the Las Vegas valley. Please bring the following items to any of the four Sunday services on November 15th:

                    – Mac & Cheese
                    – Soups, Canned Stew, Chili
                    – Canned Meats, Veggies, or Fruit

If you have recently become a follower of Christ or perhaps just have never taken this important step to be baptized, this is the next right step for you. As a part of this public statement of baptism, everyone at The Crossing gets to hear your unique story via video and celebrate your spiritual journey. This is the biblical way to declare your commitment to Jesus Christ as Lord of your life.

We invite you to join our Outreach Ministry to serve the homeless community on the 3rd Saturday of each month to provide a warm meal and a personal touch to those who are less fortunate.  Our next opportunity takes place  Saturday,  November 21st. We need approximately 25 volunteers to make this meal and worship gathering happen each month.  There are many ways to serve & you can come for an hour or stay for the day. As the weather cools down the season for flu and other contagious illness is just heating up. With the new H1N1 virus, we wanted to make sure that you knew all the precautions we were taking to keep your child safe while they’re with us at Kids Crossing. Our commitment to your child’s health and safety runs all year long, but during this upcoming peak season we wanted to take the time to remind you of our sick child policy, and thank you in advance for working with us to keep everyone safe.

Our Ongoing Commitment to a Safe Environment at The Crossing

*Our classrooms are professionally cleaned each week by a licensed and bonded maintenance company.

*After each service all of our surfaces (tables, chairs, countertops etc.) are cleaned and then sanitized with a bleach water solution.

* All linen used in our nursery and toddler rooms are used just for your child, and placed with other soiled linen to be washed after each service.

*Toys are also cleaned and sanitized with a bleach water solution after each service.

*Children are encouraged to wash their hands after visiting the restroom as well as before and after snack time.

Your child’s health and safety is our top priority and we hope it’s yours as well. Here are some things that will help keep our Kids Crossing areas safe for all children. Our sick child policy is adapted from recommendations from the Center for Disease Control handbook “The ABC’s of safe and healthy childcare”. The sick child policy form is available in the Early Childhood Hallway. If any of those signs or symptoms listed below are present you should keep your child at home.

Additionally, if a child arrives at Kids Crossing classroom with any of the following signs or symptoms, you will be asked to keep your child with you or take them home.

• Fever
• Diarrhea
• Vomiting
• Sore throat or difficulty swallowing
• Headache or stiff neck (in combination with other symptoms)
• Head lice or scabies
• Rash or spots on skin; ringworm infection
• Severe itching
• Mouth sores
• Eye discharge (pink eye)
• Unusual nasal discharge (of any color)
• Significant tiredness, irritability, crying (in combination with other symptoms)
• Uncontrolled coughing
• Difficulty breathing, wheezing

If you are asked by one of our Kids Crossing leaders or staff members to take your child because of suspected illness, we ask that you keep in mind that the safety of your child and all the children is our top priority. We appreciate the opportunity to serve you and are available for any questions relating to our sick child policy at any time.

Friday, November 20th -  6:30 – 9PM – $5 @ The Door

A new study series, designed for deeper Biblical  knowledge and understanding.

‘The U’ is offered four times per year, October, February, April and July. Each semester offers various electives for  students to choose. Current classes being offered are: *Intro to the Old  Testament and *Understanding World Religion (with an emphasis on Mormonism). Classes  begin October 25th and meet every Sunday from 6:00 – 7:30PM  for four consecutive weeks.

Enroll for current classes online @ www.thecrossingyouth.org or on Sunday  in the  Activity Center! The 2nd semester enrollment for ‘The U’ will be available in February.

November 15th at 10:00 & 11:30AM students will have the opportunity to be  baptized during the Sunday morning service!

To signify the importance and enthusiasm that should surround a public declaration of   someone’s faith in Christ we are throwing a party! There will be hot dogs, cake, and much more!

Students wanting to be baptized can  sign up on Sunday morning in the  Activity Center.  Also, students that are being bapized are asked to  attend a baptism class on  November 8th @ 10:00AM in the main office building, 2nd floor, conference room.
