Lights.  Parties.  Trees.  Gifts.  Eggnog.  All part of the fun of the Christmas season.  But in the midst of the holiday rush, we need to make moments to remember and celebrate all that the season means. This Christmas we invite you to join us for our three week series, “So This Is Christmas”.    All the emotions of the season are magnified in the eternal and world-changing story of Christ’s birth.  Experience what they experienced this Christmas.

Our weekend services take place every Sunday at 8:30, 10, 11:30 am and 6 pm.  Our online campus streams each service live at www.thecrossingonline.com/live.

SERVE
During the holiday season, we encourage you to discover an opportunity to serve in the Las Vegas community. Many of these opportunities are designed for families to serve together.

GIVE
Experience the joy of Christmas by partnering with The Crossing as we adopt 180 pre-school children and their families enrolled in the *Head Start program in NE Las Vegas. On December 6th you will have an opportunity to choose one or more of the “give” options to extend love to a child by purchasing gifts. You will return your gifts to The Crossing on December 13th.  *Head Start is the nation’s largest early education program offering support to families living in poverty.

The holiday season is a great time of year to experience the joy of giving through serving opportunities. We are in need of additional help as we prepare for the Christmas season here The Crossing. We are anticipating over 3000 people to visit our campus as we celebrate the birth of our Lord. Due to our scheduled five Christmas services, we have volunteer needs in our children’s department and guest services. Next Sunday (12/6), you will receive a handout listing serving opportunities. Please take a few minutes and ask God where He might want to use you this holiday season as we touch people with the love of God. We invite you to join our Outreach Ministry to serve the homeless community on the 3rd Saturday of each month to provide a warm meal and a personal touch to those who are less fortunate.  Our next opportunity takes place  Saturday,  December 19th. We need approximately 25 volunteers to make this meal and worship gathering happen each month.  There are many ways to serve & you can come for an hour or stay for the day. If you’re new to The Crossing, your next step is Starting Point. This class will help you discover who we are, what we believe, and how you can get connected. This 70 minute class is offered the first Sunday of each month during the 10:00 AM service (10:00 – 11:20). Located on the second floor of the Main Office building. DivorceCare is a friendly, caring group of people who will walk alongside you through one of life’s most difficult experiences. Don’t go through separation or divorce alone. Most people will tell you that separation and divorce are the most painful and stressful experiences they’ve ever faced. It’s a confusing time when you feel isolated and have lots of questions about issues you’ve never faced before.

DivorceCare support groups are led by people who understand what you are going through and want to help. You’ll gain access to valuable DivorceCare resources to help you deal with the pain of the past and look forward to rebuilding your life.

The group meets from 11:15am -12:40pm and continues weekly for 13 weeks on the second floor of the office building, in the conference room, directly at the top of the stairs. The next session starts December 13th.

As the weather cools down the season for flu and other contagious illness is just heating up. With the new H1N1 virus, we wanted to make sure that you knew all the precautions we were taking to keep your child safe while they’re with us at Kids Crossing. Our commitment to your child’s health and safety runs all year long, but during this upcoming peak season we wanted to take the time to remind you of our sick child policy, and thank you in advance for working with us to keep everyone safe.

Our Ongoing Commitment to a Safe Environment at The Crossing

*Our classrooms are professionally cleaned each week by a licensed and bonded maintenance company.

*After each service all of our surfaces (tables, chairs, countertops etc.) are cleaned and then sanitized with a bleach water solution.

* All linen used in our nursery and toddler rooms are used just for your child, and placed with other soiled linen to be washed after each service.

*Toys are also cleaned and sanitized with a bleach water solution after each service.

*Children are encouraged to wash their hands after visiting the restroom as well as before and after snack time.

Your child’s health and safety is our top priority and we hope it’s yours as well. Here are some things that will help keep our Kids Crossing areas safe for all children. Our sick child policy is adapted from recommendations from the Center for Disease Control handbook “The ABC’s of safe and healthy childcare”. The sick child policy form is available in the Early Childhood Hallway. If any of those signs or symptoms listed below are present you should keep your child at home.

Additionally, if a child arrives at Kids Crossing classroom with any of the following signs or symptoms, you will be asked to keep your child with you or take them home.

• Fever
• Diarrhea
• Vomiting
• Sore throat or difficulty swallowing
• Headache or stiff neck (in combination with other symptoms)
• Head lice or scabies
• Rash or spots on skin; ringworm infection
• Severe itching
• Mouth sores
• Eye discharge (pink eye)
• Unusual nasal discharge (of any color)
• Significant tiredness, irritability, crying (in combination with other symptoms)
• Uncontrolled coughing
• Difficulty breathing, wheezing

If you are asked by one of our Kids Crossing leaders or staff members to take your child because of suspected illness, we ask that you keep in mind that the safety of your child and all the children is our top priority. We appreciate the opportunity to serve you and are available for any questions relating to our sick child policy at any time.

A new study series, designed for deeper Biblical  knowledge and understanding.

The “U’” is offered four times per year, October, February, April and July. Each semester offers various electives for  students to choose from such as, an intro to the  Old  Testament and *Understanding World Religion (with an emphasis on Mormonism).

The 2nd semester enrollment for The “U” will open in February.

Here at The Crossing, we believe that life change happens in small groups. We offer the opportunity for small group involvement through our House Church Ministry. We strongly encourage our students to get involved in a House Church where students meet together weekly. Every Wednesday, from 6:30 – 8:30 PM, in houses across the valley, students come together as a large group to hang out, share life, and make time for God to speak into their lives through Bible study, spiritual friendships, and mentoring relationships. For the small group discussion time, students are divided by gender. To sign up for House Church, stop by the Welcome table in the Activity Center or go to our Student Ministry website to submit an online registration form.

HC Christmas Party Wednesday, December 16th… All seven Houses will come together to celebrate the season. There will be food, group competitions, and much more! Watch for more details on our website @ www.the crossingyouth.org.

2nd Semester Kickoff Event January 10th @ 6:30pm in the Activity  Center The kickoff event is a time for students and leaders to reconnect after the holiday break. It is also a time for  students that are not involved in H.C. to get connected to a House…so encourage your student to be there!

FYI…House Church will not meet on Wednesday, November 25th due to the Thanksgiving holiday.

If you think impacting the life of a child is for other people, you’re wrong. They need YOU to love, guide, instruct, teach, care for and rock them.

Our children need extra hands to love them on Sunday mornings! If you’d like to join the Kids Crossing teams to serve children ages 2 and under, then pick up an interest form in the lobby of our auditorium or our Kids Crossing building. Now is a good time to make a difference!

The Well, Women’s Ministry at The Crossing, is a place where women of every age and every stage can develop their relationship with Jesus Christ and build connections with other women. You can dig deep as you explore and discover all the plans God has for you and drink deep as we worship, laugh, and learn together!

Our current series is from the week of October 5th – December 19th. Our meeting times are Monday evening from 6:00pm to 8:30pm and a mirror meeting Tuesday mornings from 9:15am – 11:30am.  We also have three off campus groups that meet. Contact klcoli@aol.com for times.

We offer: Small Group Studies, Women’s Conferences and Service Opportunities and more. Don’t just talk about loving others; practice it.
